Memories of Perry Page
Perry was my best friend in our North Redondo neighborhood and he was Best Man at my wedding in 1967. I remember watching and helping as his dad taught him to ride a bicycle. His parents took me along when they went camping and skiing at Lake Havasu. Perry and I used to rent Honda 50's on Artesia Blvd. and ride all over town and Palos Verdes for about 50 cent an hour. He was first in our neighborhood to have "a real motorcycle" when he got a Honda 305 Scrambler in about 1964. I had a red '50 Ford Coupe and we would trade vehicles on some Friday nights to go cruising to Taco Tio on PCH and A&W on Hawthorne Blvd. A few years ago I started restoring a 305 Honda Scrambler, like the one he had, which I wanted to share with him when (and if) I could find him again. Unfortunately, I learned Perry had passed away due to liver and lung cancer in 2005 during my Honda Scrambler restoration. Rest in peace my old friend. May we ride together another time.
I remember the One and only time I got on the Back of Perry's Honda 305 Scrambler.. He scared the, daylights out of me! I was so scared at one point, when he had to slow down going between cars, I really thought of jumping off! Thinking, I may make it at a "bit" slower speed!
I am sorry to hear about Perry. He was about as wild a person as we had in the class of '67... Coming from one of that club.
I always liked Perry, although he had a bit of a "wilder" side, he had a soft spot also and found there was something I liked about him.. I think it was his acceptance of you.. Anyway.. Here is to you Perry!
